About the Department

When you enroll in one of our programs, you will be set up to succeed in your field, whether you enter industry or pursue an academic career.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is located in Elson S. Floyd Hall in the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍøÖ±²¥ Business Technology and Research Park. The department offers five separate degree programs:

Vision: Our vision is educating for life-long careers in industry and academia.

Mission: Our mission is to provide challenging undergraduate and graduate programs in electrical and computer engineering that are recognized for excellence in education and research. Strong ties with industry are encouraged.

Facilities

The department boasts seven dedicated instructional laboratories, circuits, digital logic, electronics, embedded systems,  machines, microprocessors and senior design. It also has nine research laboratories spanning the research interests of the current faculty.

Our alumni

When you attend °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍøÖ±²¥ to pursue a degree in electrical or computer engineering, you will join a growing group of alumni who are impacting our field and advancing technology in many industries.

Alumni such as Jason Joseph, B.S.E.’97, who is the chief digital and information officer for Corewell Health where he leads strategic and operational information services with a primary focus on creating efficiencies and simplifying experiences through digital technology and automation. Joseph leads efforts across all categories of technology including applications, cybersecurity, data and analytics, clinical technology and emergency preparedness services. Joseph received an Alumni Excellence Award from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences in 2023.
