Medieval Research Group

Medieval Research Group is a joint initiative of the Medieval Institute and the Zhang Legacy Collections at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍøÖ±²¥ to create opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to carry out research, learn about university resources, share their work with others, and build community.

See our events page for a full schedule of MRG events in the Fall 2024 semester.

There are three key elements to Medieval Research Group: Studium, Quaestio, and Colloquium.

Studium

studium: earnest attention, zeal; intellectual activity

MRG Studium meets weekly on Fridays from 10:00am–12:00pm in the Zhang Legacy Collections Center. This is a space for individual work and quiet collaboration, and a time for researching and writing in community with colleagues and mentors.

Quaestio

quaestio: (act of) searching; inquiry, investigation

MRG Quaestio meets monthly, every second Friday at 3:00pm in the Zhang Legacy Collections Center. Once a month, faculty members showcase a favorite research resource such as a facsimile, database, or software provided through the library.

Colloquium

colloquium: discussion; conference, assembly

MRG Colloquium is an informal group that meets monthly on Friday evenings at 6:00pm, off-campus. Join us for a potluck dinner and build relationships with your fellow medievalists. Afterwards, support your colleagues as they present their current research, or present research yourself to receive feedback and practice for upcoming conferences.
