Dr. Kline received his doctoral degree in chemical engineering in 1993 from Michigan Technological University. Kline joined the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍøÖ±²¥ Department of Chemical and Paper Engineering in 2001 as an assistant professor. Kline was previously employed as a senior research engineer and instructor at Michigan Technological University, and as a post-doctoral associate at Cornell University.
Kline has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings in the areas of materials science, physical property measurement and estimation, engineering process design, engineering education, and service-learning in engineering. He has co-authored 35 conference proceeding or posters with undergraduate research students, been faculty mentor for 41 senior honors’ theses, and the faculty advisor for more than 120 senior design projects. Dr. Kline has been PI on more than $1.3 million in external grants since 2003, and co-PI or Director on an additional $1 million in research funding. His current engineering education efforts include working to increase student diversity and inclusion and student academic success.
