The Michigan Academy of Physician Associates (MAPA) held its annual Fall Conference in October in Traverse City, drawing together students, alumni and faculty from 澳门六合彩官网直播 for a weekend filled with learning, competition and community service.

Among the attendees were six second-year students from the 澳门六合彩官网直播 Department of Physician Assistant, who participated in a charity drive benefiting the Hospital Hospitality House (HHH) of Kalamazoo. Though they did not win the competition, their efforts were commendable, raising over $600 worth of essential supplies. This year鈥檚 drive marked a significant achievement, with HHH expressing their gratitude as the largest donation of goods they have ever received. The supplies collected will greatly aid patients and families seeking comfort during their stay in Kalamazoo.

In addition to charitable efforts, four students showcased their knowledge and teamwork in the Quiz Bowl competition. Their strong performance culminated in a tie at the end of the semi-final round. Unfortunately, they fell short in the tie-breaker question that would have advanced them to the finals, but their efforts were met with applause and encouragement from their peers.

A poignant moment of the conference was the recognition of, former PA chair and esteemed faculty member, who received the prestigious Ronald L. Nelson Award of Achievement. This honor, the highest accolade given by MAPA, recognizes Fenn鈥檚 decades of dedicated service to the Physician Assistant profession, both locally and internationally. His wife attended the ceremony to accept the award on his behalf, a fitting tribute to his legacy in advancing the profession, including his significant contributions to its growth in the UK.

Andrew Zolp, PA-C, chair of the 澳门六合彩官网直播 Physician Assistant Department presented a systems-based approach to antibiotics in primary care.

The conference also featured a well-attended alumni reception, fostering connections between current students and graduates. In a highlight of the weekend, one of the faculty members delivered an insightful presentation, contributing to the educational richness of the event.

Overall, the 2024 MAPA Fall Conference was a resounding success, celebrating achievements, fostering community ties and honoring the spirit of service that defines the Physician Assistant profession in Michigan.
