鈥淥ur Equipment Library bridges the gap for our students and provides access to the tools of learning outside of the classroom,鈥 explains Paul Gallagher, associate dean for resources and digital strategies.

鈥淲hile our offerings have curricular ties, we've tried to provide a diverse enough assortment to serve everyone, no matter the major or if their need is for a course, or just for fun!鈥

Since starting the Equipment Library in August 2023, more than 900 items have been checked out.

鈥淟aptops have been our most heavily requested item, but in short supply,鈥 adds Brandon Meissner, User Services coordinator. Nine more laptops were recently added to the Equipment Library to better meet this need.

鈥淭angibly, it provides a great new resource for the campus and provides a way to play with some new technology and experiment a bit,鈥 says Gallagher. 鈥淏eyond the practical, the University Libraries are focused on student success and helping to expand opportunities beyond the classroom.鈥

Members of the Western community can stop by the service desk on the first floor of Waldo Library with a Bronco Card to check out items from the Equipment Library.
