Harriett Kiser Creed HPHE Scholarship
Eligible majors
B.S. in any program in the Department of Human Performance and Health Education.
Criteria
- Recipient shall be a full-time junior or senior.
- Preference for financial need (as determined by Office of Financial Aid).
- Preference shall be given to applicants with the highest cumulative GPA, who demonstrates involvement in related activities of the Department of Human Performance and Health Education related activities.
- Applicants must express their commitment and ambitions in the field of their chosen major.

Additional information
Decisions on the award are made during the spring semester. The award funds are disbursed to the student鈥檚 account during the following fall semester.
About Harriett Kiser Creed
Harriett Kiser Creed, who died in November 1990 at the age of 58, loved physical education and had spent her career perfecting her knowledge of this important aspect of learning. A native of Tazewell, Va., Creed earned her Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in physical education from the University of Chattanooga and her Master鈥檚 Degree from the University of Tennessee.
Creed taught at both high school and college levels, at Hubbard High School in Ohio and the Kalamazoo Public Schools. She joined 澳门六合彩官网直播鈥檚 Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 1967. As an associate professor of physical education, she took pride developing all of the printed materials for independent study for general physical education students. She also coordinated the undergraduate health, physical education and recreation programs. Her other achievements included coordinating health and physical education student teachers with the Directed Teaching Office. As director of the Physical Education Learning Lab, she also helped students perfect their abilities and talents. Many have learned from her and put that knowledge to good use in their lives and in their teaching.
Creed was married to Donald Creed and had three children: Susan, a 1979 澳门六合彩官网直播 graduate, Nancy, a 1981 澳门六合彩官网直播 graduate and Stephen. She also had five grandchildren.
