General summary
Manages and oversees the awarding of institutional, state, and private scholarships. Responsible for the tracking and reporting of awards in the scholarship matching software system. Manages communication with departments, awarding organizations, and students.
Major duties
- Leads training, administration, and maintenance of the scholarship matching system.
- Processes fund codes in the student information system.
- Manages endowed and gift scholarships.
- Assists with awarding and renewal of freshmen and transfer scholarships.
- Coordinates tuition remission, reduction, and discount programs.
- Works with departments at the University and awards private scholarships.
- Awards state scholarships.
- Reviews scholarship appeals.
- Manages residence hall and room and board grant programs.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in financial aid, higher education, pre-college programming or equivalent.
- Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to a wide variety of financial situations.
- Office software skills, including word-processing and spreadsheets.
- Solid teamwork skills.
- Customer service skills.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
