General summary
Manages operations, training, and budgets and works closely with senior staff to identify best practices and initiate improvement for student success, regulatory compliance and other departmental goals and objectives.
Major duties
- Provides strategic leadership over daily operations regarding federal regulations, processes, student service, and success within the department.
- Oversees and administers policies and procedures for financial aid staff and users in the department, ensuring compliance with University standards and industry best practices.
- Researches, analyzes, and interprets new regulations to ensure compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations and guidelines.
- Serves as a liaison and collaborates with University offices and community agencies in order to effectively manage assigned functions.
- Collaborates with senior staff on packaging formulas and rules, funds management, common origination and disbursements, file disbursements, and reconciliation in order to ensure federal, state, and institutional regulations are being adhered to.
- Supports staff that maintains the operating budget for compensation, supplies, and travel, to ensure fiscal soundness and provides guidance for student aid budget reconciliation.
- Assists with documents and reports necessary for various audits and program reviews. Designs and implements internal quality control systems to ensure compliance.
- Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of senior staff in operation areas of compliance, federal programs, financial services, processing, and loan programs. Facilitates training.

Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years’ relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations and guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing, planning and implementation of financial aid programs.
- Ability to work independently in order to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates effective use of technology to streamline administrative processes.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
