General summary
Coordinates and oversees academic services and programming for all varsity athletic teams to promote the athletic and academic success of students. Collaborates with campus academic services, coaching staff, student-athletes, medical staff, and athletic administration.
Major duties
- Coordinates athletic department academic support services structure and programming for all varsity teams. Develops study table plans.
- Develops individual meeting assignments for academically at-risk student-athletes, and coordinate assignments for learning specialists, graduate assistants, and student workers. Monitors academic progress and adjusts success plans to resources as needed.
- Meets weekly with at-risk student athletes. Prepares regular reports and maintains regular communication with coaching staff to facilitate a comprehensive approach to student-athlete success.
- Completes administrative tasks, maintains various documents within the department, and creates and distributes travel letters.
- Represents the athletic services office as an active member on interdepartmental committees.
- Serves as the liaison between the athletic department and other University departments.
- Participates in the athletic recruiting process, public relations, and student orientation efforts necessary to successfully promote the University, its academic reputation and programming, its diversity, and the quality of the Athletics program in general.
- Assists in student-athlete course registration, degree planning, and career planning.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor鈥檚 degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of athletic conference regulations.
- Familiarity with NCAA Division I athletic programs.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Desired experience
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
