General summary
Supervises clinical services for multiple prison locations. Provides treatment services for clients with substance abuse disorders.
Major duties
- Provides substance abuse screening, intake, evaluation, assessment and treatment planning.
- Provides individual and group treatment and referrals to and from outside agencies.
- Supervises and monitors prison clinical staff to ensure treatment services comply with Michigan Department of Corrections contractual requirements and industry standards.
- Identifies and reports issues and concerns about and from clients, funding agencies, referral agents and clinicians.
- Trains, evaluates and supervises clinical staff and student interns.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Experience working directly with criminal justice populations, including individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders and behavioral health difficulties.
Required other
- Relevant industry certification.
- Ability to travel to prison sites.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
