General summary
Manages the design and maintenance of University websites in a lead capacity.
Major duties
- Maintains the content management system e-learning tools available to all University web designers.
- Establishes and maintains an information architecture that is well organized, user-friendly and presents a consistent look and feel.
- Ensures that the University’s websites provide up-to-date and comprehensive information that is easily available.
- Analyzes the use of website content and design. Takes steps as necessary and affordable to improve information content architecture and design.
- Coordinates the development, integration, format design and release of content from writers and designers.
- Provides guidance and direction to web managers to ensure consistency in style, appearance and functionality for the University’s websites.
- Creates templates, style guides, architecture standards and other tools to assist web managers.
- Employs focus groups, surveys, web statistics and email in order to elicit feedback and improve website content and organization. Creates and maintains search parameters ensuring external access to the University’s websites.
- Serves as a technical resource to University web designers and web managers.
- Hires, trains and evaluates performance of staff.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution, or a Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field from an accredited institution combined with relevant experience.
Required experience
- Three years’ experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience documenting technical and content standards.

- Applicable industry certification.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoor or any number of elements.
