Kinetics. The Midwest Book Review highlighted the first edition as 鈥淎n ideal curriculum textbook, Sports in American History: From Colonization to Globalization is exceptionally well written, organized, and presented. Very highly recommended for both community and academic library sports history reference collections and supplemental studies reading lists, Sports in American History will be much appreciated by both academia and nonspecialist general readers with an interest in the culture and history of American sports.鈥

Professor Borish and co-authors Gerald R. Gems and Gertrud Pfister鈥檚 new edition includes new sidebars and new historical images as well as two new chapters. Other chapters have been updated to provide more balanced references to racial and ethnic groups and greater attention is devoted to a variety of sports, women鈥檚 participation in sports, commercialization and role of media, and controversies relative to sexuality, performance-enhancing drugs, concussions, and brain-injury debates.

Congratulations to Linda Borish on the publication of this second edition.
