Preparatory Major
Students admitted to the 澳门六合彩官网直播 College of Engineering and Applied Sciences Preparatory (PREP) major begin their first semester in Algebra II (MATH 1110). This placement is based on ACT math score (20-24) or SAT math score (520-599) or an equivalent transferrable math course from another institution. Students in the PREP major must pass MATH 1110 (or an approved, equivalent course from another institution) with a grade of B or better (3.0 on a 4.0 scale). They must earn that passing grade in no more than two attempts, though only one attempt (either at 澳门六合彩官网直播 or at a prior institution, if transferring in equivalent coursework) is guaranteed. In order to ensure being granted a second attempt, students must achieve a C or better the first time they take the course. Upon passing MATH 1110, students are then admitted to the major of their choice and are eligible for Pre-Calculus (MATH 1180).
First-Year, First-Semester Students (non-transfers)
In addition to MATH 1110, first-year students are enrolled in a learning community cohort of classes designed to foster academic success. These classes include FYE 2100, ENGR 1002 and EDMM 1420 (if applicable to the student鈥檚 major of choice). ENGR 2100 is a transitional course designed to teach effective study habits and time management skills, and also to discuss engineering as a major of study and career path. ENGR 1002 is a supplemental applied Algebra course that introduces engineering-related concepts parallel to the syllabus content from MATH 1110. In order to be a full-time student (12 credit hours), CEAS-PREP students also take general education courses, required of all 澳门六合彩官网直播 students for graduation.
