What can I expect in the 30-credit-hour program?

Program requirements

 You will complete the following:

  • 12 credit hours of core courses that focus on such topics as design for manufacturability; smart manufacturing; design of experiments and regression analysis; process monitoring and control; and linear programming.
  • 18 credit hours of electives that focus on your goals. You'll  select courses for the areas that meet your needs! The catalog provides a partial list of approved electives and you can work with your faculty advisor to approve other options.

Attendance policy

Graduate students are expected to attend all classes starting from the first class period of the semester through the final exam week. It is the student鈥檚 responsibility to know when the semester starts and stops (note the University Calendar). Individual faculty members establish the attendance expectations in their classes, but be aware that lack of attendance may adversely affect your learning in the course as well as your final course grade.

You may be granted admissions to the manufacturing engineering graduate program if you meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering or technology.
  • Show evidence of competency in computer programming, mathematics through the calculus level, statistics, at least one semester of physics, and one semester of chemistry with laboratories.
  • Possess a grade point average of 3.0/4.0 or better.
  • completed undergraduate courses or have equivalent work experience in CAD, properties of materials, manufacturing processes, statics, and strength of materials. If a candidate鈥檚 background is deficient, foundation courses will be required.
