Commercial Real Estate Specialist at NAI Wisinski of West Michigan

I am sort of the 鈥渕iddle man鈥 between the process of buying, selling, or leasing commercial property for the use of business. I assist in finding the property, negotiating the terms, and facilitating the transaction. Most of my day to day is spent talking on the phone, driving the market, touring space or researching data.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part about my career is the people I work with and meet every day. I am a natural born extrovert, I love talking, meeting, and helping people, and my career lets me do all three. The most challenging part is starting out. There鈥檚 a lot of risk, rejection, and other challenges that come with the job but the good definitely outweighs the bad.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

I switched majors, a lot, which at the time, I thought, was a bad thing. However, looking back, changing majors gave me the opportunity to see what every college had to offer. While in the business college, I utilized the summer business externship program that helped me learn interviewing skills, business etiquette/attire, and meet some of West Michigan鈥檚 hottest employers. This played such an essential part in kick starting my career after graduation, and I would encourage everyone to take advantage of the program.

What advice do you have for students?

It鈥檚 not about your major in college that will move you forward in life; it鈥檚 about your experience and the relationships you build. Get an internship, and make it a point to talk to every person in that company that will give you the time of day. Successful people love to talk about themselves 鈥 take advantage of that. And lastly, your mindset is everything. Whether you think you can or you think you can鈥檛鈥 you鈥檙e right.
