Climate Change Graduate Research Scholarship
About
The Climate Change Research Graduate Scholarship was established with funding from an anonymous donor to support graduate students engaged in outstanding, independent scholarly research related to climate change. Scholarship recipients agree to give a presentation of their research to the Climate Change Working Group, and/or to present their work in an event hosted or organized by this group. Award recipients should be prepared to hold a presentation within twelve months of receiving an award.
Deadline
October 18 for spring disbursement.
February 17 for fall disbursement.
Applicant Eligibility
- Master’s or doctoral students in any College of Arts and Sciences graduate program working on a thesis or dissertation focused on the impact of human activities on the environment related to climate change.
- Students must be enrolled in at least three graduate credits during the semester in which funds are disbursed. At least one credit must be in thesis or dissertation research.
- In good academic standing (minimum 3.0 GPA) during the semester the application is submitted and maintained good standing during the semester in which funds are disbursed.
- Students may receive no more than one Climate Change Research Graduate Scholarship per 12-month period and no more than two awards per degree program. A progress report must accompany an application for a second scholarship.
Guidelines for Proposal Preparation
Application, which must include:
- Title of the climate change research project the student is conducting.
- An abstract of approximately 200 words summarizes the proposed work.
- A recommendation from the student’s primary professor that verifies the student is engaged in scholarly research related to climate change, that the student is in good academic standing, and is making adequate progress toward their degree.
- If the applicant has received one scholarship and is requesting a second scholarship, a progress report must be submitted as part of the second application.
- The progress report (2 pages maximum) should describe work accomplished under the first award, such as literature reviews, data collection, analysis, publications, conference presentations, or other scholarly accomplishments.
